December 2002

December has turned into a very creative month for Martin.
With four new Smokie tracks written, an offer to write a TV jingle and
a new track on the drawing board for the world music album there is no shortage of inspiration.
But Christmas calls for another type of creation - namely a Christmas play
which Martin writes every year for the amusement of his family.
This is usually a 15-minute piece of nonsense which features the guests as main characters.
The tradition began at Martin's wedding in the Australian outback where there was a need
for entertainment with the minimum of equipment. This is a real contrast to his regular style
of entertainment which requires huge amounts of equipment.

November 2002

Martin has submitted several pieces of music to TV and film companies during this month
while on breaks from touring. Also he has been familiarising himself with new studio software
for the laptop which will enable him to write while on the road.
At the same time that new tracks are in the planning stage for the world music album he is
also writing new songs for the next Smokie album. Two of these songs are in an
advanced stage of completion and further ideas are in the pipeline.
This is a very creative and enjoyable period with more time to devote to the studio.
It's always exciting to have new songs and soundtracks in preparation for a year with
an altered live set and two albums.

Martin would like to thank everyone
for their kind remarks in the guest book.

October 2002

Martin has created a new track titled "Ancient England" for his
forthcoming album of world music.
This track is an intense orchestral piece which evokes memories
of historic times which are far removed from today's technological era.
The next track to be created is likely to have a desert theme.
Work also continues on the creation of new songs for Smokie's next album,
a long awaited collection of new songs
written by the band and other songwriters.

September 2002

Martin is taking a much needed break, after seven month of continuous touring.
During the September break he has been showing relatives from New Zealand around Scotland.
The tour included The Official Loch Ness Centre, which is regarded as one of
the top ten tourist attractions, and a boat trip on Loch Ness. Also Martin will be
setting up his two websites, www.lochnesscd.com and www.keynote-music.co.uk and
linking them to this website. September is also the time for submitting material
for the Unisong International Song Competition, in which Martin won a first prize last year.
The songs have yet to be written, so there will be little time for taking it easy.

July/August 2002

Martin is currently working on material for a new CD which will include
"Uluru","Kenyan Sunrise" and "Tokyo Dream". The fourth track, titled
"Caledonian Lament" is complete and a new track "Korean Fantasy" is in the planning stage.
The album is intended as a world excursion for the listener with flavours
from twelve different territories. There is no scheduled release date
for this album at present because the writing will take place alongside
new songs for an original Smokie album which will be recorded in 2003.
So there is due to be much new material in the near future.
