December 2003
Martin has received entry of
merit certificates from Unisong for
"Caledonian Lament" and "Korean Fantasy".
Now there is a total of four tracks from "World of Music"
which have received Unisong awards.

November 2003
Martin has written a new
Poem!
You find it here.

Martin would like to thank all
those who have purchased "World of Music"
and passed on such complimentary remarks about the album and their favourite
tracks.
He remarks that this album is a convenient way of travelling the world
without
having to book a plane or lose luggage. That has to be a big advantage!

October

Now the World of Music album is
on sale Martin is considering a suggestion
that he might create a 3-track CD of songs which may not be available through
other means.
A possible inclusion is the song recently used in the Malibu promotion
"Can't beat Rock 'n Roll",
featuring the voice of Alan Barton.
However, it may well be three months before he can spend more time
creating fresh tracks in the studio since Smokie are busy on tour until
Christmas.

Martin's "World of
Music" album is almost complete
with just one final track to mix and artwork to finalise.
Copies will be available from September 27th and Ingrid is now taking
orders.
The album consists of 12 tracks which represent the music from a variety of
territories.
Some of the tracks have already been heard by owners of the "Intros and
others" CDs,
including the award winning tracks "Kenyan Sunrise" and "Tokyo
Dream".

August 2003
As the summer festivals come to
a close Martin is looking forward
to spending some time with his family as they set off for Legoland in Denmark.
The main reason for being at Legoland in the first place is that Smokie are
playing live
there on 9th August, but the chance to combine work with pleasure is too good to
miss.

July
2003
Martin is taking to the water
this week with a cruise on the "Eala Bhan",
which travels along Loch Ness and through the Caledonian Canal to Fort
William.
This will be the perfect opportunity to become a tourist in his own vicinity.
And perhaps Nessie might just surface to mark the occasion!

June
2003
Martin is currently re-working a
song he co-wrote with Terry Uttley
while in Nashville.
The song is called "Mistral Wind" and may possibly be included
on the next Smokie album.

May
2003
A track which Martin wrote in
1992 titled "Can't beat rock 'n' roll" has been included
in a promotional CD for Malibu. It features Alan Barton's lead vocal
with backing vocals done by Martin, whose voice is rarely heard.
Because the track has a reggae theme it has been included on the 8-track
CD
which accompanies all bottles of Malibu in some territories during the summer.
We await news of which countries will run the campaign.

April
2003
As if touring the world and
making two new albums is not enough,
Martin is trying his hand at journalism.
He has submitted an article about Smokie on tour to The Sunday Times in South
Africa,
where his brother David is a freelance journalist. Will they think it good
enough to publish?
Just watch this space!

March
2003
Martin has now created 9 tracks
for the forthcoming World Music Album,
the most recent being "Tribal Call".
Since he will be on tour and in the studio creating new songs for the next
Smokie album
he must suspend work on this project until May when he will start writing three
more tracks
which are likely to have German, Russian and Latin themes.
Whilst on the road in Russia he will truly "out of contact" with no
laptop and no high tech gadgetry,
just plenty of books and a tape recorder.
Looking forward to reaching Western Europe again on 15th March!

February 2003
Since winter arrived in a hurry, Martin has been
dodging snowfalls,
most of them outside of Scotland.
After a 1.200 mile return trip to Hungerford he returned to heavy snow in the
Highlands
where schools were closed and even the parents went sledging.
This time he returns to England for the annual Annette Fox Leukaemia Charity
Dinner,
which always raises good money for Bradford Royal Infirmary's Ward 7.
There is a final opportunity to write track 9 for the world music album
and then Martin starts on the next round of touring with Smokie.

January 2003
Even before the Christmas decorations had been
taken down
Martin had moved into his new studio, a more spacious building in a woodland
setting
in readiness for the creation of some new tracks.
Whilst preparing the track Korean Fantasy, which is now complete,
he took a break to discuss the music requirements for two new adverts to be
launched
on television very soon. Meanwhile a company in London is showing great
interest
in Martin's music and plans to utilize many of the tracks for a variety of
projects.
Work continues on the World Music album and there will shortly be a total of 8
tracks
completed towards a 12-track album.
